IPC Appoints New Ad Bosses To Trading Teams

IPC Logo IPC Advertising has announced two key appointments within the its central trading teams, promoting Matt Downs from his position as publisher of fashion monthly In Style to director of corporate key accounts and appointing Antony Marcou, currently business development manager, as head of corporate business development.

Both Downs and Marcou will report directly to ad director for trading, Alison Deas, who in turn reports to IPC group advertising director Caroline McDevitt.

Commenting on the appointments, Deas said: “I’m extremely excited to be able to promote such proven and experienced talents within IPC Advertising. Key accounts and business development are fundamental parts of IPC’s trading function. Both Matt and Antony fit perfectly to these pivotal roles and will take a significant lead both in providing even better service to existing key clients and convincing those clients not yet working with us of the potential of the matchless IPC magazine portfolio.”

Downs’ experience across IPC’s core markets includes senior advertising roles in IPC Connect, prior to taking the publisher role on In Style within IPC SouthBank. The new role will see him responsible for developing relationships with IPC’s biggest clients and their agencies.

Meanwhile, Marcou will be tasked with developing new business opportunities with those advertisers who have yet to harnessed the power of IPC’s magazine portfolio.

The two appointments mark the latest stage in IPC Advertising’s evolution under McDevitt, who was appointed director of group advertising in April. McDevitt announced a restructure of the company’s group sales functions in June, including the splitting of central sales teams into two divisions – trading, led by Alison Deas, and marketing & strategy, led by Neil Perkin.

Explaining the reorganisation, McDevitt said: “Key accounts and business development, along with our agency sales team headed up by Julia Barrass, are pivotal to IPC Advertising. Between them they are a fundamental engine for growth for IPC and they are also on the front line in proving the efficacy and creative power of magazine advertising to some of our most important partners.”
