IPC Broadens Uncut Offering With DVD Title

Uncut DVD Cover IPC ignite! is to broaden the appeal of its Uncut music and movie title with the publication of a sister magazine, Uncut DVD.

The new title will focus on the “world’s finest movies,” offering readers background information on both new and old movies, as well as reviews, interviews and behind-the-scenes access to the “greatest films ever made.”

Uncut and Uncut DVD editor Allan Jones explained the need for the new magazine, stating: “Uncut has long been recognised as the authoritative magazine for music and movie lovers, but we’ve never had room in our multi-award-winning magazine for all the great movie stories we wanted to tell.

Uncut DVD is the perfect solution, providing the proper space for us to give the full Uncut treatment to the greatest stars, most talented directors and wildest behind-the-scenes stories in celluloid history.”

The new title’s debut issue features a retrospective of cover star Clint Eastwood, delivering the good, the bad and the ugly on Hollywood’s greatest contemporary icon.

Elsewhere, the magazine features the full excess-laden story of the 80s Brat Pack and the complete history of top 70’s cop show The Sweeney – plus leading movie author David Thomson on Marlon Brando and cult director Jim Jarmusch on his Johnny Depp western, Dead Man.

The magazine’s 50 pages of DVD reviews promise the monthly lowdown on all the best DVD releases, covering classic movies, new movies, TV and music titles.

Commenting on the brand extension, Uncut publishing director Andrew Sumner said: “DVD is a fantastically versatile format which has given a new, vibrant lease of life to classic movies old and new, and caters to the insatiable appetite of movie fanatics everywhere.

Uncut DVD will feed that appetite with peerless journalism from internationally-renowned critics, glorious visuals culled from 100 years of great cinema and matchless insights into the finest movies ever made. Uncut DVD is a movie magazine like no other. Quite simply, it’s the only great movie magazine.”

The launch issue of Uncut DVD, weighing in at 148 pages, hits newsstands tomorrow, with a cover price of £3.99. Uncut‘s current circulation stands at 110,015 after dipping by 2.5% year on year.
