iPlayer requests surpass 300 million in February

Following a record-breaking month in January, BBC iPlayer requests remained strong in February, surpassing the 300 million mark for the second consecutive month.

According to the latest iPlayer report, February saw overall requests up 15% year on year, with average daily requests reaching 10.7 million and average weekly requests hitting 70 million – both of which are new records.

The first episode of the new series of Top Gear generated over 3.2 million requests, while the final series of Outnumbered picked up almost 2 million.

A number of BBC Three programmes were in the top 20 most-requested shows on iPlayer this month, including The Truth About Webcam Girls, Ja’mie: Private School Girl and Uncle.

Earlier this month, the BBC announced that it plans to move BBC Three entirely online in 2015.

In terms of radio, sport content led the ranks, with Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup Football all appearing in the top 20.
