ITV & C4 Promos Criticised

In a comment to MediaTel this morning Frank Harrison of Zenith Media said he believes ITV and Channel 4 programme promotions are hi-jacking prime advertising airtime, with ad breaks being sandwiched between promotions.

Speaking about a recent study by Zenith into the subject, Harrison believes the ITC’s limited knowledge and lack of regulation on curbing promotion will have adverse effects on both advertisers and viewers. The report found that Channel 4’s promotional minutage has risen by two minutes an hour (14%) year on year while ITV’s has increased by a massive 22%.
