ITV Signs Yahoo! For Search Solutions

Internet users visiting any site within ITV.com, such as the broadcaster’s Soaps, Motor or Football pages, will be presented with a Yahoo branded search box, allowing them to search either within ITV’s sites or across the World Wide Web as a whole.

In addition to the Yahoo! search box, ITV’s sites will also display Overture’s sponsored search listings on both the search results page and throughout its content as as contextual advertising links.

Rob Jonas, head of business development at Yahoo! Search, UK & Ireland, explained the deal, stating: “This agreement demonstrates the growing strength of our search technology, as well as our commitment to work with partners to deliver compelling search user experiences. This should be the first of what we hope will be many agreements with popular online properties.”

Jeremy Rosenberg, online sales account manager at ITV Sales added: “The ITV integrated search partnership with Yahoo is the first time ITV.com has fully embraced all elements of search functionalities. The integrated approach will be set up within the look and feel of each ITV section and searches will be tailored to our user profile and habits to ensure optimisation and relevancy.”

In addition to providing on-site search functionality, the deal will see ITV’s online content categorised by Yahoo! and made easilly available to users of its regular search services.

Overture is due to rebrand as Yahoo! Search Marketing Solutions later this year, following the search giant’s decision to rebrand its American operations and bring together Overture’s sponsored search offerings and Yahoo!’s listings products under one banner.
