ITV Unique Sponsorship Deal

ITV Unique Sponsorship Deal

ITV looks set to enter new ground this year by broadcasting a programme that has been bought and paid for by an advertiser. The deal involves coverage of the 1993 IndyCar series in America featuring Nigel Mansell.

A number of the ITV companies, including Carlton, Yorkshire and Meridian have so far agreed to receive the series which is understood to be funded by Texaco. In return Texaco, which stepped in after ITV Sport turned down the deal, will be given on-screen credits. The series will comprise one-hour programmes showing highlights and half-hour shows featuring Nigel Mansell explaining the sport.
