JCDecaux’s UK revenue dropped by double digits in the quarter three.

The outdoor advertising company did not release actual UK figures but said organic revenues earned by its UK billboards, street furniture and transport services were down by double digits compared to Q3 2008.

However, JCDecaux did post a 12.1% global revenue decline between July and September, falling to €431.8 million from €495.6 million during the same period last year.

Its billboards suffered the largest fall in global revenues, down 18% to €90.5 million.  However, the company said conditions in the UK billboard market “gradually improved during the quarter leading to an overall low double-digit organic revenue decline in September mitigating the weak performance in July”.

Globally, the company’s transport revenues were down 9.5% year on year to €138.6 million, while street furniture revenues fell 12.7% year on year to €202.7 million in Q3.

Jean-François Decaux, chairman of the executive board and co-chief executive of the outdoor ad company, said he expects further improvements in Q4 but added that the “business continues to be volatile”.

Overall, the ad firm’s revenues for the first three quarters of this year were down 13.2% to €1.357 billion.
