Jerry Daykin has left his position as EMEA senior media director at GSK for a new media opportunity with “truly global leadership.”
Daykin had his last day at the company on 26 November and said he will be taking three months off to partly to recharge but also to focus on writing a book called #RepresentationMatters about inclusive marketing.
He is known for his work around inclusion in the industry, having spoken last month at Mediatel’s Future of Media conference on the topic.
In a Linkedin post about his departure he said he would be starting “a new global media challenge” in March.
Daykin told Mediatel News that this was “an opportunity to move onto something exciting and different with truly global leadership” but that it was too premature to give more details on next steps.
He also said of his three years at GSK that he was proud to have driven a transformation in its EMEA media approach, from around 10% digital to 40% on average across the region, and built out a strong new team.
Sam Gaunt will be taking on a new regional media strategy role and Simon Peel has just joined as VP of global media at GSK.
Previously Daykin worked as head of media strategy at Diageo for two years and before that worked agency-side as global digital manager and global client lead at Carat for three years. He also worked as EU head of social marketing at Mondelez International in a two-year stint.
