Spanish company Seedtag, an ‘in-image’ ad platform, has hired Jon Hewson to set-up and lead its UK business as commercial director.
Hewson joins from US adtech company Exponential where he led the UK sales operation and brings over 20 years’ experience in advertising, media and technology.
Prior to that, he developed the commercial proposition for data and insights business VisualDNA, which was later acquired by Nielsen.
Seedtag’s proposition focuses on brand advertising with premium creatives designed specifically for images. The company says it wants to change the market perception of the in-image format, claiming it has been misused in the past.
As well as banner ad creative, the company also allows brands to associate themselves with specific images. P&G and Nissen have both used the technology.
“We are absolutely delighted to have attracted someone of Jon’s calibre and experience to our company, we know he is going to make a significant and disruptive impact with Seedtag in the UK advertising marketplace,” said Seedtag co-founder, Jorge Poyatos.
Hewson added: “It’s not very often you are approached with a game changing opportunity like the Seedtag one. The timing is perfect with advertisers crying out for new, native, ways of being able to engage with their customers, and the seedtag proposition couldn’t be coming into the market at a better time, it’s really exciting.”
