Launch Of New Emap Radio Station To Be Backed By Major Marketing Campaign

City Talk Emap is to launch a major marketing campaign in the New Year for the launch of its new Liverpool-based talk radio station, City Talk.

Integrated marketing agency Ampersand has been appointed to handle the push, which will include outdoor and print advertising. The agency has also designed City Talk’s logo.

Emap has met with a number of media agencies to present the City Talk proposition to them. The station will offer advertisers sponsored documentary strands and ad-funded programming.

Emap, which already operates Radio City and Magic 1548 in Liverpool, won the right to launch the talk station in late 2006, beating off competition for the licence from UTV and GCap (see Emap Radio Creates New Format For Manchester Bid).

City Talk will broadcast to a potential adult audience of 1.5 million people.

Karen Stacey, broadcast sales director at Emap Advertising, said: “City Talk will be a unique new addition to Emap Radio’s portfolio and a unique new opportunity for advertisers who want to connect with consumers at a deeper level in one of the UK’s most important conurbations.

“We will be offering complete flexibility to advertisers, giving them opportunities to build loyalty and trust and to be radical in their delivery.”

City Talk’s programming will include news, sport, features, documentaries, advice, phone-ins, studio discussions and flagship programmes.
