LG has partnered with multi screen brand advertising platform smartclip with the aim of creating new revenue streams from advertising on the company’s Smart TV platform.
Smartclip will link up with LG in Europe, Russia and Australia as LG looks to focus on content providers based in the US and Europe.
The German company’s ability to provide high-quality content and services for Smart TV users was a “key factor” in LG’s decision.
Young-jae Seo, vice president of the service business division at LG Electronics’ smart business centre said: “By forming a partnership with smartclip, the top global platform for multi screen brand advertising, LG has secured an entrance to the European, Russian and Australian advertising markets.
“Content developers and content service providers will be able to focus on top quality content provision based on this tangible profit-making business model.”
LG’s partnership with smartclip stems from a belief that the company’s Smart TVs offer “a whole new arena of lucrative business opportunities” – the chance to reach new audiences and engage on different levels, among others.
The agreement between LG and smartclip provides advertisers with access to apps on connected TV and the Smart TV advert inventory. The formats available include “pre-roll” and banner ads, as well as “unique” and interactive formats designed to enhance the viewer experience and create more targeted advertising.
Vice president of connected TV at smartclip, Shirlene Chandrapal added: “Europe is one of the world’s largest TV markets so it is great to be able to work together with one of the largest TV manufacturers worldwide on such an exciting product.
“Connected TV is beginning to really take off and LG Smart TV is the perfect way to reach consumers on all levels of engagement. This is the first time advertisers can close the missing gap throughout the whole consumer journey on Smart TV.”
