London’s Commercial Stations See Positive Quarter
The period held good news for many of Commercial Radio’s London stations. Among those stations seeing period on period increases in reach was Magic, which rose 10% to over 1.4m, News Direct, which increased its reach by 28%, Virgin which added 11.6% quarter on quarter to hit 1.2m, Choice, which added 28.5% and Jazz which added 23.6% for its London station.
The BBC’s station in the capital, London Live, also had a good quarter in terms of reach, adding 23.3% period on period.
In terms of share, LBC saw the greatest movement, dropping 1 percentage point in a period on period analysis. Capital continues to comfortably command the highest share of listening, 10.9%, despite seeing a 0.2 percentage point drop.
The stations battling for second place in terms of share all saw increases during the period. Heart added 0.8 percentage points to attain a share of 5.8%, which keeps it ahead of Kiss, named at last night’s Media Week awards as Media Brand of the Year, which added 0.4 percentage points, achieving a 5% share and Magic 105.4, which saw a 0.5 percentage point increase take it to a 5.1% share.
Please Note that London’s Liberty 963-972 has changed its reporting period from six monthly to quarterly and is reporting on a new TSA. Ritz Country 1035 is now reporting on a half yearly basis
