Look Poaches Staff For Editorial Team

Look Magazine IPC has poached editorial staff from Grazia and The People‘s Take It Easy magazine for the launch of its new women’s weekly, Look.

The editorial line-up for the new mag, which focuses on high street fashion and celebrity style, has just been confirmed, with Ali Hall leading a 40 strong editorial team.

Hall, formerly editor of More, Celebrity Bodies and Slimming, joined IPC in June 2005 to lead the editorial development of Look.

Vicki Grimshaw, assistant editor, joins Look from Emap, where she was associate editor on what will be Look‘s closest rival, Grazia. Before this she spent two-and-a-half years as assistant editor on Closer.

Maria Coole, deputy editor, joins Look having spent three years as editor of The People‘s magazine, Take It Easy. Her previous roles include deputy editor of New Woman and Bliss, where she started as production editor in 1996.

Hall said: “To get the opportunity to build your perfect editorial team from scratch is a rare thing. To be able to hand-pick the best talent in the industry to launch Look has been amazing.”

Jill Wanless, associate editor. has worked as a freelance stylist for Marie Claire, Sunday Times Style, the Guardian Weekend magazine and Grazia.

Duncan Baizley, managing editor, started at IPC in 2002 as chief sub on Loaded, before being promoted to managing editor.

Look’s £18 million launch will see more than 1.2 million copies circulated around the UK next week, before the first issue hits newsstands on Tuesday 6 February at a cover price of £1.30, 50p less than its main competitor, Grazia (see IPC Announces Look Cover Price).

At the last ABC’s, Grazia‘s total circulation was up 12.9% year on year, giving it a total figure of 175,218 (see ABC Results Jan-Jun 2006:Mixed Results Revealed For Women’s Weekly Market).
