Editor of The Sun, Kelvin MacKenzie defended the Press Complaints Commission yesterday, in a hearing with the national heritage committee when he said that he believed it was working ‘reasonably well’ and could see no reason to replace it with an alternative.
In his 90-minute appearance with the committee, MacKenzie said he believed MPs are ‘hostile to ordinary people knowing what is going on in public life’ and that introducing American style privacy laws would actually go against them in the long run. He claims that the Sun ‘only publish the truth now’ saying ‘you can’t do better than that’.
