Maureen Duffy, the out-going Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) boss, is to become UK chief executive officer at TNS.

Duffy is replacing Andrew Czarnowski in January. Czarnowski, who is leaving the business at the end of the year after four years at the helm, oversaw the merger of the TNS and RI UK businesses.

Duffy was NMA chief executive since 2003 and before that was commissioner for daytime programming at ITV. Earlier in her career she worked at the BBC, setting up a marketing department and had worked previously for Sir Martin Sorrell as director of strategic communication at J Walter Thompson.

At TNS she will report to Northern Europe CEO Judith Passingham, who said: “Maureen has a great leadership track record and experience of working with many UK clients. She brings with her a great level of energy and enthusiasm, together with a real passion for diagnosing and solving client business problems through the effective application of research-based information.”
