Media In The City: Sky Revenues Up

MediaTel Insight Logo Last week saw Sky announce an 11% increase in group revenue for the six months to the end of September, to £1.19bn.

The satellite broadcaster added that its adjusted operating profit of £150m reflects very strong Sky+ customer growth, of 323,000 to 2.7 million (Full Story).

It was also reported that Sky could give up nearly a fifth of its ITV voting rights in an effort to avoid competition regulations and hold onto its 17.9% share in the commercial broadcasting giant (Full Story).

This followed the Competition Commission ruling at the start of October that Sky’s acquisition by the share in ITV “restricts competition and therefore operates against the public interest”.

Interpublic announced that its third quarter 2007 revenue reached $1.56bn, compared to $1.45 billion the same period a year ago (Full Story).

At the start of the week, Publicis revealed that its consolidated revenue for Q3 2007 rose 10.8% to $1,122 million, compared with $1.01 million for the same period in 2006 (Full Story).

Havas also released financial results, which showed that its revenues for the third quarter of the year rose 7.3% year on year to €368 million (£258 million).
