Mediaset Sees Italian TV Revenue Decline Stabilise In January

Italian television broadcaster Mediaset saw advertising revenues decline by 7% in Q4 and by 9% in December, according to analysts at ABN Amro. As a result, the broker is forecasting the 2001 ad revenues saw an overall increase of 0.5%.

Mediaset said that the decline has stabilised slightly in January this year, down by just 3%; a similar trend is emerging in February.

ABN says that visibility remains very limited, but that its forecast of a 4.8% decline in Q1 revenues may be slightly conservative. Nevertheless, the broker is currently leaving its full year 2002 forecast of -2.0% aadvertising growth unchanged.
