MSN Appoints Dobson Manager Of Digital Marketing

MSN has appointed Chris Dobson as its new general manager of digital marketing sales and trade marketing.

The newly created role will see Dobson, who was previously regional sales director at MSN, take on responsibility for developing the group’s advertising sales force. He will also oversee initiatives focussed on dedicated account management and partner retention.

Dobson will work to increase opportunities for advertisers on MSN’s range of communication services, which include Hotmail and MSN Messenger. The group has also restructured its sales force to ensure there are dedicated account team representatives for agencies and clients.

Prior to joining MSN, Dobson was European business development director at Zenith Media Worldwide, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and training for European network business development activity. He started his career in media sales in national television, working for Yorkshire Tyne Tees TV and Thames TV, before moving on to MTV Networks Europe.

Commenting on his new role, Dobson said: “We will be able to help advertisers around the world recognise the potential of digital marketing and the added value of integrated online campaigns through unique digital marketing opportunities, such as those available through Hotmail and MSN Messenger.”

In his previous role as regional sales director for MSN Europe and the Middle East, Dobson pioneered the integration of traditional advertising methods and language to promote digital marketing as a natural part of the marketing mix.

Earlier this year MSN unveiled a revolutionary new personalised advertising format to promote its new messenger service across Emap’s Heat, New Woman and FHM magazines (see MSN To Pioneer Personalised Ads In Emap Magazines).
