Music Channels Appoint New Sales House

DMS Logo Digital TV sales house, Digital Media Sales, has been appointed to handle ad sales for urban music station Channel U, as well as its latest offshoot, pop music channel, Fizz.

Channel U showcases music from the British urban scene, making a point of championing up-and-coming homegrown acts, including Roots Manuva, Blak Twang and Roll Deep among others.

Meanwhile, Fizz presents pop music with added interactivity, twinning its conventional music channel with a busy website featuring downloadable photos of the stars and an active text chat room. Both channels are on the Sky digital platform.

Commenting on the move, Dominic Matterson, channels director at Digital Media Sales, said: “Our clients appreciate that we don’t just promote them to agencies and bring in a larger than expected share of ad revenue. We also help them position themselves and develop their businesses across the board. These two channels have a bright future because they have got their positioning exactly right.”

The win follows DMS’ appointment as the sales house for several high profile channels, including Classic FM TV, Motors TV, Performance, the Travel Channel and the Baby Channel.

Walt Disney’s recently launched ABC1 entertainment channel recently selected DMS to handle its ad sales, tasking the firm with its American ad format with no breaks between programmes, instead favouring slots in the middle of its shows to achieve increased standout for advertisers (see ABC1 Appoints DMS To Handle Unique Ad Structure).
