Both of the Telegraph titles showed good sales growth in February, with the Sunday Telegraph increasing its circulation by a spectacular 25.5% and the Daily Telegraph experiencing a growth of 5.56% to 1.106 million copies sold. Both Independent titles again showed declining circulations, with the Independent On Sunday falling 12.42% to 281,660 and its sister paper dropping 10.16% .
Among the mid-market titles, although the Express dropped 5.25% year on year, it can take some comfort from the fact that it added 2,843 sales month on month. The Express On Sunday however had the biggest year on year fall in circulation among all the national newspapers, with a drop of 12.6% to 1.165 million copies sold: its lowest ever six-month ABC. The Daily Mail grew its sales by 8.65% while the Mail On Sunday increased by 2.52%.
Once again, all of the popular titles lost sales during February, with the Mirror losing the most. Its circulation fell 5.24% year on year to 2.384 million while it lost almost 19,000 sales month on month. Clearly, its revamp has so far failed to turn around the title’s falling circulation. The Sunday Mirror did little better, with a fall of 3.68%. The Daily Star had the smallest fall at 0.21% year on year .
