The recently released ABC October figures show that amongst the quality dailies the Times easily outperformed every title in the sector. Last month it increased by 16.08% year-on-year while the FT had a growth of 2.5%. The Independent again continues to decline, falling by 8.3% to 272,225 copies in October. Amongst the quality Sundays the Sunday Telegraph performed extremely well, increasing sales by 16.52% to 784,843 copies while the Independent On Sunday fell by 11.32% and the Observer dropped by 3.9%.
The Daily Mail‘s circulation in October continued to grow, increasing 13.63%, compared to its rival the Express which declined 3.64% . It was a similar picture in the Sunday sector, with the Mail On Sunday‘s sales increasing by 6.62% year-on-year while the Express On Sunday fell by 12.29%.
Once again the popular market performed badly, with all titles recording circulation drops. The Daily Star had the greatest drop in sales, falling 9.58% while the Daily Mirror‘s sales declined by 4.83%. Amongst the Sundays the News Of The World performed the worst, with sales falling 3.52% year-on-year to 4.576m.
