The Scotland On Sunday newspaper has launched a new 40-page magazine to sit alongside the two existing magazines in the title’s package, AtHome and Spectrum.
Review magazine will be packed with films, books, television, arts news and features, building on the paper’s existing Review section.
It is said to be younger, fresher, and more energetic, whilst continuing to offer the best week-long coverage of the arts. The section has doubled in size and has new critics contributing to its content.
In the past year Scotland On Sunday has seen its circulation slide. The title now reports an ABC of around 73,500 for October to March this year, down from almost 80,900 for the same period in 2006.
The newspaper is also bolstering the interactivity of its arts coverage online at www.scotlandonsunday.com, with the Review team taking time out each week to let readers in on what they’ve been up to.
Review will also be tracking the best and worst of the cultural happenings on the web, and taking every opportunity to offer exclusive downloads, first views and the best links to the arts online.
Les Snowdon, editor of Scotland On Sunday, said: “This major investment in Review magazine has given us an excellent new product for our readers.
“Review has undergone a transformation under the stewardship of two of Scotland’s most talented young journalists – Review editor Fiona Leith and art director Mark Grayson – who have created a magazine that has its own distinct identity whilst fitting comfortably within the Scotland On Sunday quality package.”
Sister publication The Scotsman has just launched a £250,000 advertising campaign promoting record audience figures. Despite the newspaper’s year on year print sales dropping by almost 10% in the February ABCs, to 59,092, the title is celebrating its audience beating the four million mark for the first time in its illustrious history.
The four million mark was bettered after The Scotsman combined its print sales with unique online users and page impressions, following its January ABCe audit (see Scotsman To Launch Major Ad Campaign).
