New Radio Station Is Somethin’ Else

Online Radio Somethin’ Else, the cross-platform production company, will this week launch a multi-platform radio station that will allow users to purchase the CD of a song immediately following broadcast.

The station will first be available on Freeview, Sky and online and is then due to be rolled out across cable, mobile and DAB radio.

The station will be broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and listeners will be able to purchase songs either by phone or by visiting a Radio Music Shop Website.

Sonite Alleyne, chief executive officer and co-founder of Somethin’ Else, said, “As well as reminding listeners of the classic albums they know and love, Radio Music Shop will showcase newer talents, guiding our audience towards new artists they may like; their very own personal shopper for radio.”

At the end of November, UBC announced that it is to launch a digital music download service in London in the first quarter of 2007, with a full national launch in May of next year (see UBC Announces Digital Music Downloading Launch).
