New Year Honour for Torin Douglas

New Year Honour for Torin Douglas

Torin Douglas, the BBC Media Correspondent and regular MediaTel events chair, made an appearance on the New Year Honours List last week for services to the Chiswick community in west London.

MediaTel is delighted with the news and wishes Torin a full and well-deserved congratulations.

When not dissecting the finer details of the Leveson Inquiry and providing first-class journalism into the media industry, Torin has been organising both the annual Bedford Park and Chiswick Book Festivals as well as other community events and activities.

The 62 year-old, who has interviewed four BBC director generals, five BBC chairmen and a dozen Cabinet ministers responsible for broadcasting and press issues said in an interview with his local paper: “I was astonished but totally delighted. It’s a recognition that Chiswick really has become a stronger community in recent years, putting on more arts and charity events with the help of dozens of volunteers, performers and local businesses. I hope people feel it has become a better place to live.”
