The New York Times is set to launch digital subscriptions, which will charge users to access content on NYTimes.com and its smartphone and tablet apps.

The subscription plan will allow a certain amount of free access to some content, but when the monthly reading limit is reached, users who do no already subscribe to the print title will have to pay to access the newspaper’s digital content.

The basic package – which includes access to NYTimes.com plus the smartphone app – will set users back $15 a month, according to Editor & Publisher.
