News Corp to launch global internal news wire

News Corporation is launching a global news wire service making its content available to its worldwide network of media properties.

The service will give users from News Corp companies – including Sky News, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal – access to all news stories, audio and video clips run by the organisation.

The network is in the final stages of development, a source told the Guardian, although no official launch date has been set.

A document seen by the paper said: “When Sky News reports that Gordon Brown has called an election, everyone in the NWS family can run with it. When TG24 learns that Vesuvius has blown its top again, everyone in NewsCorp will have it. Immediately. And from a source we can trust – us.”

The service, dubbed NewsCore, will be headquartered in New York, and is recruiting for positions in London, Asia and the US.
