News Corporation has made its iPad newspaper The Daily available in the UK.
Priced at £0.69 per day or £27.99 for a yearly subscription, The Daily features news, business, gossip, fashion, opinion, apps, technology and sports sections as well as sudoku and crosswords.
However, the content has not be optimised for the UK market – with stories and ads from the US.
It also includes a free two week trial sponsored by mobile operator Verizon Wireless, which does not have a consumer business in the UK.
So far, reviews on the UK app store have criticised the digital newspaper, saying “I can’t imagine why anyone would want to read about American gossip, American football or American politics”.
Rupert Murdoch has invested $30 million into the venture, which launched in the US in February.
