Advertising revenues at Newsquest were down 28.7% year on year in the third quarter of 2009.
National ad revenue at Newsquest was down 10.4% year on year, according to parent company Gannett’s financial results released today, while retail ads were down 19% and classifieds fell 34.7%.
The regional newspaper publisher owns 300 titles in the UK including the Brighton Argus and the Glasgow Herald.
Craig Dubow, Gannett chief executive, said that the company was encouraged by revenue trends seen in its latest results, despite continuing recessions in the US and UK.
