Nielsen is expected to issue its first-half advertising expenditure report next week, showing a slow down in growth from the first to second quarter.
Nielsen’s report, which is in line with Kantar Media’s half-yearly report – released last week, follows downgrades in ad forecasts by a number of US firms.
UBS has reduced its forecast on US ad spend growth to 3.6% next year – down from 4%; while Barclays has downgraded its 2012 estimate to 4% from 5.2%.
The Nielsen report is expected to show US ad spend growth of 5% to around $53.2 billion for the first half of 2011 (year on year) – 6% growth in Q1 and 3% in Q2.
