Ocean and Landsec extend Piccadilly Lights agreement

Landsec has extended its agreement with Ocean Outdoor to manage the Piccadilly Lights site.

Under the new agreement, Ocean will continue to manage the digital OOH site until the mid-2030s.

It will also work with Landsec to market The Venue, the events space that sits beneath Piccadilly Lights, to brands and deliver activations. It was formerly known as Below the Lights.

The agreement was first signed in July 2016. Ocean and Landsec worked together to upgrade the site and relaunched it as one 783.5 square-metre screen in October 2017.

Coca-Cola and Samsung are long-term partners on Piccadilly Lights.

Calling Piccadilly Lights “the nation’s noticeboard and a cultural reference point”, Landsec head of commercialisation Derek Manns suggested The Venue is another way for brands and agencies to extend their Piccadilly Lights presence.

Ocean UK CEO Phil Hall added: “Over the past nine years, we have advanced the creative potential of DOOH, using Piccadilly Lights as a beacon for breakthrough techniques such as 3D DeepScreen and AI.

“Landsec’s vision for the future of OOH matches our ambitions and we are delighted to continue to define best-in-class OOH work alongside them.”

In November, Ocean introduced a new management line-up, with Hall given the additional role of group chief commercial officer, while Nick Shaw was promoted to UK chief commercial officer.
