One Hungary now runs a legacy Linux and two new Android STBs on the same OneTV platform
One Hungary, a leading Hungarian telco and Pay TV provider, has introduced two Android TV-based set-top boxes as part of a two-year project to upgrade its Pay TV experience.
The new Sagemcom set-top boxes (STBs) form part of a multi-CPE strategy, unified on the new OneTV platform, which is underpinned by Nagravision’s OpenTV Video Platform and 3SS’s 3Ready backoffice and user experience/user interface solutions.
Last year, 400,000 TV subscribers with Linux STBs (also from Sagemcom) were migrated to the new OneTV platform, thus modernising the UX on these legacy devices, some of which are over 10 years old.
The first new device is a high-end Dolby Atmos-certified 4K box with Bang & Olufsen audio that acts as a smart speaker when the TV is off. The second is a lower-cost alternative MiniBox Pro, designed for streaming homes and featuring Google Cast.
All three OneHungary STBs offer advanced navigation and content discovery, including personalised recommendations. Third-party apps like Netflix, RTL+ Premium and HBO Max are onboarded and deep-linked.
The OneTV platform UX also includes advanced accessibility features, including quick access to a screen reader, TalkBack, and easy text scaling.
