Online Ads Are Driving Broadband Subscriptions

Online advertising is the new driving force behind broadband, according to a new report, with many internet users being encouraged to switch to high-speed connections as a result of web-site marketing.

A report from dealgroupmedia says, the surge in sales caused by internet advertising even oustrips the overalll growth of broadband.

During an internet campaign run in the first quarter of this year, dealgroupmedia clients, including BT Yahoo! Broadband and NTL, saw page impressions climb by 14% compared to the same period last year, with total clicks rising by 260% – which almost matched the increase in sales of 254%.

Chief operating officer, Nicky Lapino said: “The surge in sales not only reflects the growing demand for broadband but clearly shows the effectiveness of online advertising, where the metrics can provide advertisers with concrete evidence of their return on investment.

With more people getting faster access, the outlook for continued growth of internet usage and purchasing is very rosy indeed.”

According to eMarketer, broadband is expected to reach 41% of European homes and in the UK alone 10 million individual broadband subscriptions are expected.
