Online Holiday Revenues Set To Double

Online leisure travel spending in the US is set to rise from $22.7 billion this year to $50 billion in 2007, according to Forrester Research.

Airline tickets account for more than half of all sales and expenditure is predicted to increase from $12.8 billion in 2002 to $27.8 billion in five years time. Similarly, revenues from holiday accommodation are expected to grow from $6.9 billion to $16.7 billion in 2007 while online rental card sales will go up to $3.7 billion from $2 in the same period.

Forrester estimates that the number of households making travel purchases over the web will increase from 18.9 million this year to 34.3 million in 2007.
