Overnights: ITV1’s prime time crime show beats BBC One

ITV Logo ITV1’s Car Crime UK secured the highest ratings during the all-important peak-hour last night with 3.8 million viewers, a million more than its BBC One rival crime show.

The third of six episodes, ‘Drugs, Drunks and Dogs’, pulled in 3.6 million average viewers and a 16.7% share between 9pm and 10pm, compared to The Truth About Crime‘s 2.6 million viewers and 12% share.

However, BBC One stole the show earlier on in the evening with Eastenders‘ high of 8.3 million viewers and Holby City‘s 5.6 million viewers.

Five’s ever-popular CSI: Miami, meanwhile, came a close third in the peak-hour ratings war with 2.5 million average viewers and a 11.7% share.

The two remaining terrestrial channels both pulled in more than 2 million average viewers between 9pm and 10pm but Channel 4’s Big Brother just pipped BBC Two’s Desperate Romantics to fourth place with a 9.5% share compared to Two’s 9.1% average audience share.
