ITV1’s interview with the parents of murdered schoolboy Rhys Jones, Caught in the Crossfire, was beaten by a repeat of BBC One’s New Tricks in the 9pm slot last night.
The BBC One detective show had a peak audience of 4.7 million viewers, a 21.1% share of the audience, with an average of 4.5 million staying tuned for its hour long running time.
A peak of 3.1 million (a 14.2% share) watched Rhys Jones – Caught in the Crossfire, which featured the first interview with Melanie and Stephen Jones since the sentencing of their son’s killer.
Monday night also saw the return of The Supersizers Eat…, and this time Sue Perkins and Giles Coren went back in time to focus on the cuisine of the 80s, gobbling down Pop Tarts and hob-nobbing with Conservative party royalty along the way.
The first of the new series had a peak of 2.7 million viewers (an 11.9% share) in its 9pm slot, with an average of 2.5 million watching it for the entire hour.
Over on Channel 4 at 10pm, Big Brother had a peak of two million viewers (a 10.2% share).
