Overture Extends Search Marketing Deal With MSN

Search targeted marketing firm Overture has announced the extension of its sponsored search deal with Microsoft, seeing the company’s sponsored search results feature on MSN sites world-wide to June 2006.

The deal will see Overture providing the software giant with targeted marketing messages for the next 18 months, and builds on the long-running relationship already built up between the two companies.

Commenting on the deal, Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president for MSN’s information services and merchant platform division said: “Overture has been a strategic partner of MSN since 2001, and we look forward to continuing our productive relationship. We are pleased that our collaboration has helped grow the online ad industry and benefited consumers and advertisers in the process.”

Overture’s global distribution network provides content to numerous websites around the world, including major web portals, ISPs and other heavily trafficked sites. Overture’s search listings are generated by the company’s advertisers, who bid for placement on keywords relevant to their business.

Ted Meisel, president of Overture said that the continued deal with MSN was a good thing for the two companies. He said: “MSN is a valued industry partner and we are pleased to extend our successful relationship in the U.S. and around the world. We appreciate the vote of confidence from MSN and we look forward to working with them on innovative sponsored search solutions.”

Overture recently expanded the range of its services by signing contextual advertising deals with Guardian Newspapers, the Financial Times and Independent News and Media. The raft of search marketing tie-ups saw content match results appear on a number of areas on www.FT.com, including the Market and Funds Data section, on the Sports, Enjoyment and Job sections of Independent News and Media’s www.independent.co.uk site, as well as selected areas of www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk (see Overture Signs Raft Of Contextual Advertising Deals).
