Early estimates indicate that several Sunday papers gained sales this week following the closure of the Sunday Correspondent. The Mail on Sunday appears to have benefited most with an increase of 26,000, the Independent on Sunday gained 15,000, the Sunday Express 6,000 and the Observer 2,000. The Times and Telegraph remained unaffected. Loredana Roberts, former ad manager at the Correspondent, is among a number of people believed to have moved to the Sunday Express. Loredana is to head the classified sales department. Robert Maxwell is thought to be one of two parties interested in buying the Correspondent, the other is rumoured to be a team from the Today newspaper.
