Price Rise Sees TVQuick Increase Sales Value

TVQuick Cover H Bauer’s TVQuick magazine is to increase its cover price by 5p later this month, although the increase is unlikely to spark the same price war fears as other TV mag price rises earlier this year.

The increase takes TVQuick‘s cover price to 70p, effective from 23 December, narrowing the price gap on rival IPC’s TV Times and further distancing itself from TV Easy, although the titles remain in the same relative order of cost.

The title will retain the same content, with comprehensive TV listings, gossip, interviews and the low down on the latest goings on in TV soaps.

The price change will increase TVQuick‘s retail sales value (RSV) from £10.6m to £11.4m per annum, representing an increase of £800,000.

Explaining the move, Julie Lavington, publishing director of H Bauer’s TV listings titles, said: “TVQuick is a unique offering as it’s a great read as well as a comprehensive TV listings title. This price increase is in line with the market and reflects the high quality of editorial content in the magazine that our loyal readers come back for week after week.”

At the beginning of the year IPC Media and H Bauer began what some speculated would become a full-blown cover price war, with H Bauer cutting 10p off the price of TV Choice, taking it to 30p to compete with its rival’s What’s on TV (see Cuts Spark Fear Of TV Mag Price War).

TV listings titles are amongst the most lucrative of magazine sales for newsagents, with more than £140 RSV annually generated by only a handful of titles.
