Publicis Launches Strategic Initiative

French advertising group, Publicis Groupe, has announced the launch of its new strategic initiative, Denuo, with the business designed to exploit the evolving digital, interactive and mobile communication environment.

The new venture, led by Rishad Tobaccowala, will concentrate on three areas; strategic consulting, ventures and partnerships, catalyst and activation.

Denuo will also be involved in a number of new start-ups, including Brightcover, an open internet television service, and Groundhog TV, a streaming video service that provides all-digital access to live and archived television content via the web.

Commenting on the new business, Maurice Levy, chairman and chief executive officer of Publicis Groupe, said: “The creation of Denuo is a very important strategic decision for our Groupe. With Denuo, we aim to place the entire Group at the very cutting edge of innovation.”

Denuo, with offices in Chicago and New York, will report to Jack Klues, chairman of PGM and member of the management board of Publicis Groupe.

Klues said: “This practice has been incubating for some time inside the media companies, primarily because so much of the change impacting the marketing environment has been media driven.”

He added: “It makes perfect sense now to expand this unique and powerful capability and move it into the ‘centre’ so that all Publicis Groups clients can have access to Denuo’s thinking and vision.”

Earlier this year, Publicis announced that full-year revenues for 2005 reached €2,127 million, up by 7.7% year on year from 2004, enjoying organic growth close to $10 million (see Publicis Enjoys Revenues Of €2.217 Million For 2005).

The strong full year results are on the back of a strong fourth quarter for 2005, with revenues up 8.6% year on year, reaching €1,194 million.
