Publishers Plan To Sue BBC

The group of publishers headed by IPC chief executive John Mellon, which began lobbying the DTI in February to prevent the BBC from using air time to promote its products, may now take their action a step further and sue the BBC (Newsline 14/2).

The group is also considering a formal complaint to the European Commission in Brussels. Mellon is to take a delegat- ion, consisting of both publishers and representatives from the advertising industry, to the Home Secretary, Kenneth Baker, on Tuesday to discuss the matter.
