Queen Calls Off Sun Libel Case

The Sun’s decision to print an official front – page apology to the Queen yesterday paid off, as she has decided to drop the libel case against the tabloid.

The newspaper offered to give £200,000 to charity so that the case could be settled out of court and the deal was accepted. According to the Palace the initial action was brought about “to make clear that there had been a breach of Her Majesty’s rights”.
