RAB Appoints O’Shea As Creative Consultant

The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) has appointed Chris O’Shea as creative consultant as part of its bid to increase the quality of radio advertising.
According to the RAB, O’Shea’s appointment is part of its campaign to help creative agencies produce radio advertising they and their clients can be proud of.
O’Shea has worked in creative departments for over 16 years and has pledged to bring a wealth of experience to the position. He commented: “I’ll be proclaiming the virtues of radio. I’m a great fan and not just of radio commercials. It’s a wonderful medium and there is still a lot of untapped potential that the ad community has not realised yet. Overall, the long term objective is to make the commercials better than the programmes. It might even take a decade to make a difference but there is definitely potential to be unlocked.”
Andrew Ingram, account planning director at the RAB added: “The creative issue remains an emotional barrier to the use of radio. The RAB has done much in the past to win the rational argument – while we need to keep communicating the radio rationale, our big winning going forward will be to have encouraged a climate of greater confidence in being able to create great radio advertising”.
