Radio Listening Via Mobile Phones Continues To Rise

Radio Set Today’s RAJAR figures for Q2 2008 reveal that radio listening via a mobile phone has continued to rise, up from 8.9% to 12.2% year on year.

The number of 15 to 24-year-olds who say they have ever listened to the radio in this way has also increased year on year, up to 31.4% – with 3% saying they listen every day.

Listening to the radio via a digital platform each week remains relatively static quarter on quarter at around 31% of the population, up from 26% in Q2 2007.

Nearly 18% of all radio listening is now via a digital platform, with DAB digital radio topping other digital platforms, up to 11% of all listening, following a 7% year on year rise.

Listening via digital TV had a slight increase in share to 3.2%, while listening via the internet was up from 1.9% last quarter to 2.1%.

DAB set ownership has remained unchanged period on period, with 27.3% of adults (15+) now claiming to own a DAB receiver.

However, DAB ownership has increased by 34% year on year.
