RAJAR Q3 2011: Round-up

RAJAR

RAJAR’s Q3 2011 release was particularly positive for Global Radio, with Heart and Capital putting in strong performances for the network.

All Radio kept its reach above the 47 million mark, which it hit for the first time ever in the first three months of 2011, despite a small dip this quarter.

Positively, All Commercial Radio and All BBC Radio increased their reach year on year in Q3. All Commercial Radio now has a 43.3% share compared to the BBC’s 54.5% share.

In the national market, Total Global Radio continues to lead the nationals and networks, though its reach has fallen just below the 20 million mark. Bauer Radio’s Total Portfolio posted a 2.3% year on year rise, while Total GMG Radio enjoyed a 9.5% year on year increase following the success of Smooth Radio UK.

BBC Radio 2 is a non-mover at the top of the breakfast show chart – and was the only national breakfast show to see an increase in reach this quarter. In London, Capital London’s Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon continue to reign the breakfast chart despite a -0.8% drop on Q2. Heart 106.2 FM made a comeback in Q3 after a impressive 6.4% QoQ rise in reach to 843,000 listeners.

It’s all change in London once again, with Capital London reclaiming the number one position from Bauer’s Magic 105.4. Global’s Heart London has also moved up to second place with a reach of more than two million listeners.

Digital listening hours managed to break through the 300 million mark for the first time. Meanwhile, listening to digital radio via other platforms such as mobile phones and the internet continues to grow in popularity.
