BBC One’s revealing investigation into one of Britain’s most famous unsolved murders was watched by 3.8 million adults last night, which managed to gain the greatest television audience share for the channel in last night’s 9pm timeslot.
The Boys Who Killed Stephen Lawrence, which saw reporter Mark Daly uncover new evidence about corruption surrounding the 1993 racist murder of the black London teenager, managed to pull a 20.7% audience share.
Gordon Ramsay’s cooking programme the F Word was seen by 3.4 million adults in the same timeslot, giving Channel 4 an 18.9% audience share, whilst ITV1’s new comedy drama Jane Hall followed closely behind, taking an 18.4% audience share (3.3 million adults).
The story of how a woman’s shopaholic obsession ruins her family and her relationship, Shiny Shiny Bright New Hole In My Heart, didn’t fare as well for BBC Two, being watched by 1.4 million adults, which gave the channel a 7.8% audience share at 9pm.
Love Island continued to struggle, as Channel 4’s Big Brother managed to lure more than double the audience of the z-list celeb game show on ITV1. Four million adults watched BB, giving Channel 4 a 24.9% audience share, while just 1.9 million tuned in to Love Island, giving ITV1 a 10.8% audience share in the 10pm slot.
