Richard Huntingford Named Virgin Radio Chairman

Richard Huntingford, ex-Chrysalis radio chief executive, has been appointed as non-executive chairman of Virgin Radio.

Huntingford joined Chrysalis in 1987 and announced his departure in June following the group’s sale of its radio division.

The SMG owned Virgin Radio also announced that Rosemary Thorne is joining as senior independent director, whilst David Palmer has already joined as chief financial officer.

Huntingford and Thorne are joining Virgin Radio on September 1, whilst Palmer joined on July 3.

Paul Jackson, CEO of Virgin Radio, said: “I am delighted to welcome Richard, Rosemary and David to guide us through the flotation and beyond. Virgin Radio is one of the great brand names in media with an attractive national audience, strong relationships with advertisers and a clear growth strategy. We look forward to their wise counsel and support.”
