Scrabble To Sponsor Frasier On Paramount Comedy

Viacom Brand Solutions has signed up Mattel’s Scrabble to sponsor repeats of Frasier on both the Paramount Comedy and Parmount Comedy 2 channels the run up to Christmas.

The deal will see credits for Scrabble, created by Ogilvy & Mather, feature on all episodes of the hit American sitcom from early November for six weeks. The series is shown during peaktime on Paramount Comedy and at 1:00 am on Paramount Comedy 2.

Daniel Salem, commercial director at Viacom Brand Solutions, said: “Frasier is a natural fit for the Scrabble brand and the sponsorship is very timely. Paramount Comedy delivers a high proportion of ABC1 viewers and monthly it delivers 4.5 million 18-44 year olds, making it an ideal sponsorship partner for Scrabble in the pre-Christmas sales period.”

The deal, which marks the first of its kind between Scrabble and the multichannel sales house, was brokered by Jennifer Gibbons, sponsorship manager for Viacom Brand Solutions and Mark Campbell, account director at Mindshare’s Sports and Entertainment division, Performance.

Last month Viacom Brand Solutions appointed sales director Nick Bampton as acting managing director until a replacement is found for Paul Curtis, who left recently to join Sky Media. Bampton will temporarily head up the brand focused sales house, which handles airtime for the MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and Paramount channels (see Bampton Takes Temporary Charge Of Viacom).
