Simon Davies, commercial director of The Independent and The Independent on Sunday, has left the paper today, with immediate effect.
Davies had spent 10 months in his current role.
Details have not been confirmed, but a source has said that the decision was “mutual and amicable.”
The source added: “Simon came in to do a job and once that job was done, both he and [Andrew Mullins, managing director of the London Evening Standard and Independent Newspapers] felt it was time for him to move on. There is no animosity.”
Davies joined Independent Newspapers as commercial director in September 2009. He replaced Daryl Fielding. He joined The Independent from the position of advertising director at the London Evening Standard.
Davies’ duties as commerical director will be assumed by Melanie Danks, deputy advertising director at Independent Newspapers.
