Sky launches new Anywhere proposition

Sky is set to launch a new screen proposition that aims to combine Sky Mobile with the Sky Player catch-up service.

“We know that access to Sky across many different devices is becoming increasingly important to our customers and with an explosion in sales of tablets and smartphones predicted I think it is a great opportunity for us,” said Sky CEO Jeremy Darroch.

The launch of Sky Anywhere follows the company’s acquisition of the UK public WiFi network The Cloud, which will allow Sky customers to access broadband out of home.

The new proposition will bring together Sky’s mobile content, both paid and unpaid, under a single point, according to Broadband TV News.

Sky is already the leading content provider to mobile devices in the UK with over 11 million apps downloaded (by December 2010) – and of the 15 top mobile apps in the UK, five are from Sky.
