Sky Rebrands Entertainment Channels

Sky Sky is set to rebrand its entertainment channel portfolio – Sky 1, Sky 2 and Sky 3 – with new names, logos and idents ahead of its autumn schedule launch at the end of August.

The new branding is an attempt by Sky to link the channels with their key flagship programmes, such as Lost and Bones.

Richard Woolfe, controller of Sky 1, 2 and 3, said: “Nothing defines out channels more than our fantastic content, so it made complete sense to be led by the shows and stars that our viewers connect with.”

The creatives for each channels logos and idents are reportedly base on ‘elements and solids’ for Sky 1, ‘liquids’ for Sky 2 and ‘particles’ for Sky 3.

Woolfe added: “For the first time, our new dynamic idents feature Sky 1 talent embedded within our channel creative. This puts our standout content right at the heart of our brand.”

The autumn schedule is expected to see Futurama back on Sky 1 after a five year break and feature The Simpsons 20th season.

Sky 1 has also secured the exclusive rights to Caprica, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica, as well as the new 10-part TV dating show – Loveland – with Cilla Black.
